The Eagle Valley softball team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-4 non-conference loss at Bertha-Hewitt Friday afternoon.
The Bears scored nine runs in the first three innings on a few walks, some clutch hits and also took advantage of some misplayed fielding mistakes by the Rebels.
"The Rebels made two many mistakes early in the game and could never quite get back into the contest," said Eagle Valley head coach John Sieling.
Ashley Ahrendt pitched the first 3 innings and walked four batters, while aslo giving up six hits.
"Ashley had some control issues," Sieling stated.
Brooke Pollema pitched the last three innings and did not allow a run. She gave up three hits, struck out two and walked one.
Eagle Valley tried to get back into the game, but like in the past few games, could not come up with the key hits with runners on base. The Rebels left the bases loaded three times and came away with only two runs in those innings.
The Rebels picked up a total of eight hits for the game. Becky Ecklund had a great day going 3-for-4 and two RBI. Sierra Benning had two hits, while Courtney Hinmzann and Brianna Salathe each had one.
Eagle Valley finishes the regular season with a 9-6 overall record. The Rebels were seeded #6 in the Section 6A/South tournament and travel to Parkers Prairie on Tuesday, May 25. The winner of that game will play on Thursday, May 27, in Brandon.
