Browerville/Eagle Valley had its three-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 Prairie Conference loss at Royalton Monday.
The Broncos led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning and starter Jordan Mithun had pitched 4-2/3 innings of shutout baseball, but the game turned on a bad hop.
With two out and no one on, Royalton managed to turn that bad hop into opportunity and scored five runs, four of them unearned, to slip past the Broncos.
"(We) just didn't swing the bats well," expalined Browerville/Eagle Valley co-head coach Paul Jenkins. "(We had) just five hits and hit many weak fly ball outs."
The Royals played erroless ball. B/EV had two miscues.
The Broncos' Austin Wollenburg was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Mithunn went 1-for-2 and had one RBI. Joey Gaida was also 1-for-2, while Levi May and Mitchell Heid each went 1-for-4.
