Browerville/Eagle Valley scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Osakis 8-7, handing the Silverstreaks their first Prairie Conference loss in the process.
After a 1-6 start, the Broncos have gotten back to the .500 mark by winning two of three games played last week to even their record at 8-8.
On Thursday, B/EV traveled to Osakis to finish a suspended game, leading 3-0 into the bottom of the second inning.
Osakis came out fired up and loaded the bases with no outs on a hit batter and two straight walks. A double, single and one Bronco error and the Silverstreaks quickly lead 4-3.
"(We) hit the ball solidly over the next three innings, but a strong wind blowing straight in held up several balls that were caught that would have been homeruns or doubles," stated Broncos' co-head coach Paul Jenkins.
Osakis built their lead to 7-3 into the sixth inning.
Again, the Broncos hit the ball hard in the sixth, but only scored one run. A line shot to third with two runners on turned into a double play.
Browerville/Eagle Valley loaded the bases in the seventh inning and got a big, one-out double by Austin Wollenburg to close within one run at 7-6. A hot smash to the second baseman resulted in a great backhand play, but he threw wildly to home and the Broncos scored two runs to take an 8-7 lead.
The Silverstreaks had a chance at a rally in their half of the inning, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the game. Both teams finished with 10 hits. Osakis committed four errors, with the Brocos making two.
Jordan Mithun came on to pitch in relief for the Broncos in the third inning and allowed just one run in five innings. He gave up six hits, no walks and struckout three.
Mitchell Heid was 3-for-4 with one RBI. Levi May went 2-for-5 with one RBI. Austin Host, Joey Gaida, Wollenburg, Tanner Line and Mithun each had one hit for the Broncos. Wollenburg had two RBI, while Host and Line had one apiece.
